Dr. Joseph Guevara, DVM  

​Dr. Guevara was born in Venezuela where his parents managed a dairy farm. The dairy was located in San Felipe and was 800 head of Holstein milking cows. Upon moving to Florida Dr. Guevara became an active member of the agriculture community. Along with his brothers they developed a herd of Brahman cattle with the aim of selling Bos Indicus type replacement heifers to local commercial herds. He was an active member of his local FFA chapter, which he later dedicated a year to the State FFA Association as a State Officer. 

 

Dr. Guevara attended the University of Florida for his bachelors degree, where he was a founding officer of the Florida Farm Bureau Collegiate Chapter and an active member of the UF Dairy Science Club. 

 

Dr. Guevara also attended the University of Florida for Veterinary School. It was here he received his DVM with a certificate in Food Animal Medicine. Some of his interests while in school included reproductive medicine, production medicine, and surgery. He completed externships involving Florida cow calf production, and with a Dairy Consulting Practice in California. 

 

He is a member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, American Veterinary Consultants, American Veterinary Medical Association and Society of Theriogenology.
